New Art: West Texas Sunset

West Texas Sunset

I have always had a connection to West Texas. I was born in Odessa 6 months before my parents moved back to Dallas, taking me with them. I spent some of the best summers in El Paso with my Grandfather. That was what inspired this painting. My favorite time of the day was sunset, watching the sun disappear behind the Franklin Mountains. No matter how large the mountains were, the sky was ever greater. And the colors... majestic.

This painting was done using a pallet knife for extreme texture.

The colors I used are red, black, white, blue, yellow, orange and some indigo.

The painting measures 12x12 inches.

Gallery wrapped canvas. The sides of the canvas are painted black so it can be hung without a frame.

My paintings are coated with several layers of varnish to protect the vibrant colors. This painting is wired for hanging.

I do custom painting, so, if you see something you like but want to make a change or if you need something to mach your own decor, Or if you want to have a beautiful piece of work done for a friend or family member for the holidays, please email me via Etsy and let me know.
